I enter bogus information to register for conference calls. If they aren't sending you a validation code via email to allow participation in the call, there's no reason for the hosting company to have your info... except to profit from it by selling it to companies like Maxim.
No Maxim calls here this year or last year.
In my current Ethics in Information Technology class, I mentioned entering bogus personal information, and one classmate stated he felt me doing so was unethical. LMAO I reminded him it's my private information, and if I can enter bogus info and still get access to the call, then they clearly have no reason for having it except for marketing purposes. I give out my real info when it's appropriate.
