They are saying under stress, learning and memory impairment accelerated. I think some may already assume this, but to prove it out is a big deal.
At the same time there was a significant increase in the expression of PKCα, CHOP and MANF, and decreased that of GRP78 in the frontal cortex and hippocampus.
The body if filled with checks and balances. For example if your body is too acidic, it will pull calcium out of your bones to buffer it and bring up your PH. Everything seems to have a counterbalance in nature. It's when that is broken things go very wrong. MANF rising appears to be the counter balance to offset the damage caused by stress as MANF is proven to have protective benefits.
I don't have access to the whole article but that's my layman view.
I think you'll see more studies with MANF in the next year or two worldwide.
