1) His claims about being honest were highly exaggerated. i.e. he was lying, and doing so for the purpose of deceiving others to his own advantage.

2) He was in regular contact with the company, they lied to him, and he can't admit that he was once again a victim of this company's fraudulent misrepresentations.
