Today's news about Wolfram's and Diabetes...
Post# of 30028
My dear friend,
...Great news on Dantrolene! A couple of questions linger in my mind. Dantrolene prevents the buildup of Calpain 2 which then leads to the death of the insulin producing cells, is that correct? How is that going to help patients who already have Wolframs or Type 1 Diabetes. In order for Dantrolene to truly be effective it would need to be given regularly to all individuals before they actually develop diabetes and eventually Wolframs. How is that feasible? Am I on the right track here? Would Dantrolene be able to win this battle on its own or is it going to need assistance from something else? How is it going to rehabilitate the sick cells or help the few healthy cells regenerate?

"To the XXX Family,
Thank you for your email. These are relevant and very good questions.
1. Your understanding is correct.
2. In Wolfram, this may delay the progression of the disease. In Type 1 diabetes patients, this may prevent the further destruction of insulin-producing cells.
3. Dantrolene does not provide a cure. This should be combined with a regenerative therapy.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Kindly,

P.S. "...combined with regenerative medicine." Does MANF not regenerate cells?
