bms, I remember Dr. Urano speculating that in order to prevent premature death of pancreatic beta cells and thereby maintain normal production of insulin, the patient might only have to receive semi-annual injections into the pancreas. I'm just recalling from memory and haven't taken the time to dig up a link, but I'm sure he made that statement or one similar to it. Surely that would be preferable to daily insulin injections.
