It could have said that but the permit, not to beat it to death, but the permit said agricultural storage. the pole barn would have been built according to the specs of a pole barn, short and simply but it is going to take a huge amount of work to turn it into a growing/processing factory and that is where the development permits come in. The town was hearing about the world's largest medical mj facility but were never ever in a meeting with the company about it. The town finally reacted in April after being bombarded with media requests and really all they could do is shrug their shoulders and say hey, this world's largest thing we do not know about but that site is restricted to 6K square feet and left it at that. It was not until mid summer the company finally got around to filing the application for the rezoning.
Pot is an ag crop, short and simple. Again, this current situation is not about permits, who knew what when but about a certain individual publicly at odds with the town fathers (we have all approvals - you have approval up to X amount of feet and X number of employee's - we have all approvals.) No one is grandfathered in - we are grandfathered in - we will be grandfathered in - there is no basis for being grandfathered in - we are grandfathered in.
Instead of sitting down with the town to discuss these issues Bill continually said the opposite of what the town fathers were stating, even Kirk Foran went on record and he is not an elected official and still Bill said he was wrong. At some point they too became exasperated and drew a line in the sand.
