The global demand for polycarbonate is likely to cross 6,000,000 tons by 2020, while the production of polycarbonates is expected to reach nearly 5,000,000 tons by 2020. Polycarbonates are a particular group of thermoplastic polymers that are generally known by the trademarked names like Makrolon, Makroclear, arcoPlus, Lexan, etc. Polycarbonates have a unique property that they can be easily molded and thermoformed and they are easy to work with as well. These properties have made polycarbonates quite attractive an option for many industries ranging from automobiles, electronics and electricals, opticals, amongst others. Optical media remains one of the principal applications of polycarbonates. The global market for polycarbonates is expected to show good growth in the coming years. The global polycarbonate market was dominated by the Asia Pacific region. North America and Europe followed next as well. The Asia Pacific region accounted for more than 60% of the demand for polycarbonates in the world. In the Asia Pacific region, China accounted for nearly 60% of the polycarbonate demand and was also the largest polycarbonate consumer globally. Investors have now shifted focus on building up the polycarbonate capacity in the Middle East & Africa region. Global and Chinese High Barrier Material (PVDC, EVOH, PEN) Industry Report, 2014-2017
M2 - Tue Sep 02, 8:53AM CDT
Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/pwqwzc/global_and) has announced the addition of the "Global and Chinese High Barrier Material (PVDC, EVOH, PEN) Industry Report, 2014-2017" report to their offering. High barrier materials can block the penetration of small molecular gas (such as O2, CO2, N2, water vapor), aroma and other organic solvent vapor prominently. By virtue of better barrier performance, polyvinylidene chloride (PVDC), ethylene / vinyl alcohol copolymer (EVOH) and polyethylene naphthalate (PEN) are mainly used to produce thin films and containers, and utilized in such fields with higher requirements on barrier properties as food, medicine, military products, cosmetics, pesticides, precision instruments and high-grade fine chemicals; additionally, they are also suitable for the production of vacuum insulation panel materials. In the world, only a small number of companies are capable of producing PVDC, EVOH and PEN which require high-quality raw materials and strict process control, so that the current PVDC, EVOH and PEN markets are dominated by a few oligopolists. PVDC raw materials exist in the forms of PVDC resins and latexes. Global PVDC resin producers embrace Dow Chemical (USA.), Solvay (Belgium), Kureha (Japan) and Asahi Kasei (Japan). The global PVDC resin capacity reached 228Kt/a in 2013, and will hit 242Kt/a in 2014. New capacity is mainly contributed by Chinese PVDC manufacturers (but the capacity is not fully released). As of 2014, there has been only two PVDC resin production enterprises in China, namely Zhejiang Juhua and Nantong SKT. Both companies produce PVDC resins used in casing films. In recent years, Juhua has increased investment in PVDC, so that the capacity jumped from 3Kt/a in 2009 to 28Kt/a in 2013 and will further rise to 33Kt/a in 2014. Nantong SKT primarily supplies PVDC resins to Henan Shuanghui(i.e., Shineway Group) for the purpose of casing film production. By the end of 2014, Nantong SKT will add the capacity of 3.6Kt/a PVDC resins, so the total capacity will reach 13.6Kt/a. Key Topics Covered: 1 Overview of High Barrier Materials 2 Polyvinylidene Chloride (PVDC) 3 Major Global and Chinese PVDC Manufacturers 4 Ethylene Vinyl Alcohol Copolymer (EVOH) 5 Major Global and Chinese EVOH Producers 6 Polyethylene Naphthalate (PEN) 7 Major Global and Chinese PEN Producers - Asahi Kasei - Dow Chemical - DuPont - Henan Shuanghui Investment & Development Co., Ltd. - Kuraray - Kureha - Nippon Gohsei - SKC - Solvay - Taiwan ChangChun PetroChemical - Teijin - Zhejiang Juhua For more information visit http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/pwqwzc/global_and

M2 - Mon Jul 14, 5:45AM CDT
Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/7fhc9h/global_and) has announced the addition of the "Global and Chinese Flame Retardant Industry Report, 2014-2016" report to their offering. Flame retardant is a general term for the substances that prevent and reduce flammability of fuels or delay their combustion. Over the past 30 years, flame retardant and flame-resisting materials have played an important role in reducing losses of life and property caused by fire disasters. In 2005-2013, the market volume of global flame retardant grew at a CAGR of about 4.2%, to 2.055 million tons in 2013. The global flame retardant market is mainly dominated by Albemarle, Chemtura and Clariant from the United States, Israel's ICL, Japan's ADEKA and Jiangsu Yoke Technology and Zhejiang Wansheng from China, which leads to a relatively higher concentration. In terms of consumption regions, despite a higher consumption proportion in Europe, America and Japan, these markets were stable and their demands grew at a relatively slow pace. However, the Asian region including China but excluding Japan showed a double-digit growth, making it the most important driving force of the flame retardant markets around the world. In 2013, this region accounted for a roughly 31.1% market share of the global flame retardant, up nearly 13 percentage points from 2005. Although China's flame retardant industry started later than Europe, the United States and Japan, the output of flame retardant in China has maintained a rapid growth rate in recent years, with the output for 2013 approximating 987 kt, up 15.2% from a year earlier. At present, the demand for flame retardant in China accounts for roughly 60% of its total output. And as the industries like energy saving in buildings, electronics & electrical appliances and automobile manufacturing develop and the State adopted increasingly stringent policies on flame retardant, the market potential of flame retardant in China will be further released.
