The 12th man shouldn’t take this personally
The NFL decided to keep primetime games out of Seattle fearing the Seahawks’ propensity to blow teams out on their home field, according to Pro Football Talk. And blowouts equal bad ratings.
The defending Super Bowl champion Seahawks are at home in the Thursday night season opener against the Packers, per tradition, but it’s their last primetime game at home, unless they get flexed into a Sunday night matchup by NBC. The Seahawks’ three primetime games are in Washington in Week 5, Thanksgiving night at the rival 49ers and then at the Cardinals in Week 16.
The NFL’s fear is not unfounded. In the three primetime games at CenturyLink Field the past two seasons, the Seahawks outscored the 49ers (twice) and Saints by a combined score of 105-23.
