ALEXANDRIA, VA--(Marketwired - Aug 29, 2014) - James Samson's professional dancing career was just getting started when he was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 27. He could have lost it all -- but he never gave up on his dreams. While Samson didn't stress over his diabetes diagnosis, he did take it seriously. "I realized it was something that was going to probably change my life," he says in Company Man . With his talent and dedication, Samson is still a part of the company, 12 years later.
Now 39, Samson continues to push his body to its limit while managing type 1 diabetes. It has taken some trial and error to learn how to start each show with his blood glucose in range, handle lows onstage and even conceal a continuous glucose monitor while in costume.
