Feds: Over 100 Financial Institutions Working With Marijuana-Related Businesses
Thursday, 14 August 2014
Washington, DC: Over 100 US financial institutions are working directly with marijuana-related businesses in states that allow for cannabis commerce, according to public remarks made Tuesday by a US Department of Treasury representative.
Speaking this week at the 2014 Mid-Atlantic Anti-Money Laundering Conference in Washington, DC, Financial Crimes Enforcement Director Jennifer Shasky Calvery acknowledged that US financial institutions have filed over 1,000 reports with the Treasury Department in regard to servicing businesses engaged in the sale of marijuana-related goods and services. At present, " here are currently 105 individual financial institutions from states in more than one third of the country engaged in banking relationships with marijuana related businesses," she stated.
In February, the Treasury Department and the Justice Department issued a pair of memos providing limited guidance to financial institutions that wish to engage in transactions with state-authorized marijuana businesses. In July, members of the US House of Representatives voted in favor of legislation restricting the Treasury Department's ability to take punitive actions against financial institutions that provide assistance to state-sanctioned, marijuana-businesses. To date, however, members of the US Senate have yet to take any action on the measure.

Study: Cannabis Inhaler Delivers Effective Relief To Neuropathy Patients
Thursday, 21 August 2014
Haifa, Israel: The administration of a single dose of whole-plant cannabis via a thermal-metered inhaler is effective and well tolerated among patients suffering from neuropathy (nerve pain), according to clinical trial data published online ahead of print in the Journal of Pain and Palliative Care Pharmacotherapy.
Israeli investigators assessed the efficacy of a novel, portable metered-dose cannabis inhaler in eight subjects diagnosed with chronic neuropathic pain. Researchers reported that the vaporizing device administered an efficient, consistent, and therapeutically effective dosage of cannabinoids to all participants.
They concluded, "This trial suggests the potential use of the Syqe Inhaler device as a smokeless delivery system of medicinal cannabis, producing a delta-9-THC pharmacokinetic profile with low inter-individual variation of (maximum drug/plasma concentrations), achieving pharmaceutical standards for inhaled drugs."
A series of clinical trials conducted by investigators affiliated with the Center for Medicinal Cannabis Research at the University of California, San Diego previously determined that the inhalation of whole-plant cannabis is efficacious in the treatment of various types of neuropathic pain.
For more information, please contact Paul Armentano, NORML Deputy Director, at: paul@norml.org. Full text of the study, "The pharmacokinetics, efficacy, safety, and ease of use of a novel portable metered-dose cannabis inhaler in patients with chronic neuropathic pain: A phase 1a study," will appear in the Journal of Pain and Palliative Care Pharmacotherapy.

Government has crops of all sorts for research
government wants to grow weed as much as it wants to grow any other crop, like tobacco, hopes, wine grapes
iron clad laws are being formed to protect those that grow
Great post BT....
Good point Carlson... did not think of that. My hopes would be they would use a third party like MedCann/INCC, but your point is valid. Tomorrow.

Marijuana brings down violence...another reason why the private prison system pours millions to fund to strike down legalization and medical Maryjane laws.
jives, I hope the government does not want to start being a huge grower in the near future. That would be bad for alot of companies. They have enough regulations and huge taxes on it. I am surprised the black market does not snuff out legalization since its so much cheaper to get it on the street. I would say once you buy it there is no telling legal weed from illegal weed as long as you don't go over the limit that one can carry. Just a thought. I don't smoke the stuff myself but I know a guy from my last job that has a guy he goes to. Guy delivers it and everything. All I would have to do is contact my ex-co-worker and I could have an ounce in no time.
MJ, WE got stuck around .0080 for awhile. Now we have settled in here for a spell. Hopefully some awesome news comes out and this stock jumps up by a full penny in one session. Thats something that would get the markets attention.
bturk...agreed to much potentials going forward if management delivers the catalysts we have been discussing on this board. If the stock trades side ways in the next couple of days, so be it and this might even be healthy to reset the chart before next leg up. This also opens up opportunities to load at this PPS before the next boom time starts.
Disclaimer: This is IMHO, do your own DD.
