Construction underway at medical marijuana plant

AMMCan has received its building permits from the Municipality of Kincardine and has begun construction on what is primed to become the largest producer of medical marijuana in Canada.
The company, operated by the Herburger family from Toronto, is setting up shop in 340,000 square feet of greenhouse space at the Bruce Energy Centre and received its building permits Aug. 8. When operating at full capacity, AMMCan expect to produce 150 pounds of medical marijuana daily.
Peter Herburger, president of the company, told The Independent that heavy equipment is at the site to prepare the foundation.
“It’s coming along nicely,” he said. “Everyone is happy and excited. We are very appreciative of the building department that we could work together to resolve the little issues. I’ve been very impressed with them.”
Herburger said he hopes to have construction completed and the facility ready for government inspection by the second half of November. AMMCan has received a pre-approval letter from Health Canada and hopes to be issued a license to operate following its inspection.
