A spin off will give leverage too because the separate company will be financed by institutions, which will completely bypass any big pharmas attempt to leverage the company. I think GC and gang are at the poker table showing their aces, which scares the guys holding the kings. They have the leverage because they own the patents. I think they are really feeling the waters for the best partnership for them, and that probably pisses off the powers that be.
