Morgan Drexen Announces Winner of Annual Company Clothing Drive Competition

COSTA MESA, Calif., Aug. 18, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- After a two-week competition of collecting clothes to be donated at its corporate headquarters, the winners of the Morgan Drexen Integrated Systems ( http://Morgandrexen.com ) annual Charity Clothing Drive Competition have been announced.

"We are proud to announce that the winners of our clothing drive competition to benefit the Orange County Rescue Mission are the employees of the 2 nd floor!" announced Morgan Drexen CEO Walter Ledda at the clothing weigh-in. "In addition to announcing the winning floor, I also want to note that it was a very close call with the 4 th floor who gave the folks down on the 2 nd a real race to the very last day."

The annual clothing drive competition created by Morgan Drexen's Human Resources department was timed to coincide with both back-to-school shopping and summer clearance shopping and ran the first two weeks of August when traditionally both of those events are at their peak.

"We figured this would be the perfect time of year to run a clothing competition," said Dina Iglesias, Manager of Human Resources. "With so much back to school shopping and summer clearance shopping there is bound to be a lot 'closet cleaning' that can make a difference for people who are less fortunate."

The Morgan Drexen Clothing Drive Competition was deemed a huge success and produced more than 1,000 pounds of "gently used" clothing that will be delivered to those in need at the Orange County Rescue Mission first thing Monday Morning.

"Morgan Drexen ( http://Morgandrexen.org ) has this wonderful philosophy of giving back to the community," said company COO Rita Augusta. "Our employees are beyond generous when it comes to supporting the Orange County Rescue Mission. During the past twelve months our employees have volunteered to serve meals to the homeless via the Mission's 'Chili Van,' ran a holiday Christmas Tree gift contest, and also conducted a food drive which raised over 3,000 pounds of much needed food for the Mission as well."

Supporting the Orange County Rescue Mission has been an on-going part of Morgan Drexen's charitable endeavors for nearly six years. Those endeavors have grown to include supporting numerous organizations throughout Orange County where the company is headquartered.

"Events like our food drive, holiday gift drive, and the clothing drive, all make a big difference to those who are less fortunate and turn to the Orange County Rescue Mission for help," added Ledda.
