Motivations of a Pumper (by Doctor Rockzo)
1. "Joe Retail" who is just manipulating peeps to drive the share price up to dump all their shares, wait for the inevitible crash and load up again. Repeat until the stock eventually cannot be used for a swing trade due to the manipulation. There are all kinds of people on iHub infamous for this kind of behavior. I wish admin would allow us to name them...but you stick around awhile you'll figure it out.
a) Some of these folks may also have bought into a pump/promotion at the high end and are trying their hardest to get their money back, or lessen their losses.
2. "Joe Institution" who places a "buy" or "accumulate" rating on a stock after possibly buying at a lower level and is wanting thier own prophecy to self-fulfill. Yes, front-loading could possibly be involved with this Joe.
3. "Joe No-Life" who was once a high roller and needs to feel a part of the game. They derive pleasure from every uptick. They *MUST* be right...as they find their greatest purpose for living in "BEING RIGHT." They are proud. They are insignificant in reality but they squeeze some measure of satisfaction from having a public platform where they can make their tainted prognostications. I honestly feel like the majority of pumpers on public message boards fit into category #1, this one (category #3) and by far category #7 below.
4. "Joe Fanboy" who made money on the stock and has developed a serious infatuation for the CEO and anything the CEO touches.
5. "Joe Crusader" who suffers from a god complex. They are so busy claiming they know the future upward movement of a stock price that no one can convince them otherwise.
6. "Joe Balanced" who is not typically a pumper but is simply weighing all the facts, including the company's and CEO's past behavior, and provide a balanced picture of the company in question, both the good and the bad.
7. "Joe Promoter" who was given cash and/or free-trading shares and may or may not be trying to boost the PPS. As it's all profit, it doesn't really matter much, but one would rather be able to sell at .20 as opposed to .05. These are fairly easy to spot.
8. "Joe Hater" who has a personal vendetta against one of the bashers/realists on that stock. He doesn't give a rip about the company but he does not want to see the poster(s) he hates succeed.
