I have no problem with investors using misperception of a filing by others to pick up cheaper shares or profit from a unsubstantiated run-up in share price because of the misperception.
However, it's a completely different matter when investors help to perpetuate the misperception so they can maximize their desired transactions. That is both illegal, unethical, and the mark of a low-life, the same kind of person who commits fraud and steals the life savings of the elderly.

So far, every time an S-1 is submitted, there are many who misunderstand its purpose and what the company is doing, and unload their shares because they are clueless. But like you stated, there's always someone standing ready to take advantage of their lack of knowledge.
