An interesting idea is the use of radio frequency identification (RFID) for logistical part management. If this is true, then building the LEAP factory is no different from any other facility that uses RFID. This would make GE not so forward thinking but a laggard in just now incorporating RFID. Thus, the LEAP facility is not so advanced.
We all have used RFID if we've driven under a toll and have a device for account payment.
RFID is not new nor exciting. To essentially say "now we can track items" when tolls do it a million times per day with cars is not a savvy way for GE to release a statement, especially for the entire aerospace industry to notice.
