NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- The National Football League said referees will return to the field on Thursday after the league reached a new eight-year deal with the NFL Referees Association. In an announcement on its web site, the NFL said the pact marks the longest with game officials in NFL history. The contract still awaits ratification from the referee membership. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell temporarily lifted the lockout to allow officials to work on Thursday night's game between the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens. Votes will be held Friday and Saturday in Dallas.
