Monster Worldwide Joins Newly Formed Internet Association as Founding Member in the Nation’s First Trade Association Representing the Interests of the Internet Economy
The Internet Association will be a powerful advocate for Internet freedom and policies to advance technological innovation
NEW YORK & WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sep. 19, 2012-- Monster®, the worldwide leader in connecting people to job opportunities and the flagship brand of Monster Worldwide (NYSE: MWW), today announced it has joined The Internet Association as a founding member dedicated to advancing public policy solutions to strengthen and protect Internet freedom, foster innovation and economic growth, and empower users.
The Internet Association will ensure that legislators, regulators, and the media understand the profound positive impacts of the Internet and Internet companies on jobs, economic growth, freedom and creativity. The Internet Association will concentrate on three broad public policy areas: protecting Internet freedom; fostering innovation and economic growth; and empowering users.
"Monster is proud to be a founding member, joining some of the most recognized Internet companies in the world including Amazon, AOL, eBay, Expedia, Facebook, Google, IAC, Salesforce.com, TripAdvisor, Yahoo!, and Zynga, to create The Internet Association, an umbrella public policy organization dedicated to strengthening and protecting an innovative and free Internet," said Melissa Wojciak, Vice President of Government Relations for Monster Worldwide.
The Internet Association supports policies to ensure that users, businesses, government, and the marketplace are able to freely choose which Internet technologies and platforms to use and support, without those choices being unduly constrained by an antiquated regulatory structure.
"We are excited that Monster is a founding member of The Internet Association," said Michael Beckerman, President and CEO of The Internet Association. "The Internet continues to transform the way people work and recruit talent. Internet freedom encourages new technologies, tools, and practices vital to Monster's employment solutions and digital recruiting. I look forward to working with Monster to champion policies to spur innovation and further job creation and employment opportunities for communities across the globe."
