I'm actually considering doing my masters thesis on the nutrient flux within wood chips which act as a soil medium in a RSC (Regenerative Stormwater Conveyance). That photo has a very basic version of what is currently the standard for operations of this size. My hope is that the science progresses such that we can fix the ground water table and resupply the natural aquifers with something my company is designing, but people like me need to publish papers on Nitrogen and Phosphorus counts based on new RSC's before anyone will listen.
The industry is so broken and disconnected its not even funny. I currently work in Annapolis, MD and our local government won't give my company grants for our work, but they will write off our Nitrogen/Potassium/Phosphorus/ abatement as state nutrient reductions even though citizens groups fund our projects! Its a joke, and governments need to start feeding money into new ideas or the USA will be left behind.
