Tex, you and I do agree on similar issues. Phil had the right to say what he said-he was, BTW, asked by the interviewer, his thoughts on homosexuality, so he answered the man's guestion. A&E, on the other hand, has the right to fire Phil as his employer. Pretty dumb, but that's their right to be dumb. I also believe we have WAY too much government intrusion in our lives. We are regulated to death. If you work for the government, I guess you think you have to go in to work everyday and think up some new regulation, or you'll be fired for not doing your job. How about finding some regulations to do away with that are stifling businesses. Food stamp and welfare workers are out seeking people to put on these programs so they can keep their jobs-problem is the taxpayer is paying the bill. Now to your religion-you also have the right to worship or not worship as you see fit. I never guestioned that right. But what happens when you die? Do you believe you just stop breathing and its all over? Surely you can look all over the beautiful state of Texas and see nature at work-do you think that is all just by happen-chance-no, there is a higher power behind all that, and its God. You may say, well, all animals have instinct to know when to hibernate or fly South or how to give birth and raise their young, but that animal instinct is given to them by God. Now He gave us a conscience instead of instinct. Surely you have heard a little voice speaking to you when you knew you were about to do something wrong or cheat on a business deal or cheat on your wife or curse your children (I don't mean you personally). That is your inner conscience telling you that is wrong. That also was placed in your soul by God. Most believers are not struck like a lightning bolt when they come to God-sometimes it is a gradual thing-it was for me. Actually, I began thinking and reading what hell must be like and I guess I was a coward because I decided that is not where I want to spend eternity. You have the right not to believe in heaven or hell, but they are as real as the sand in Texas..Either you believe Jesus is a liar or did not exist, or you believe what He said. I chose to believe and know 100% I will see my parents and loved ones in Heaven for eternity with Jesus. It sure is a wonderful feeling. Pretty simple: just say God, I am a sinner-forgive me and help me. The Holy Spirit will enter and help and direct you. You may have had a terrible church experience as a youth and turned away from God. A church will not get you into Heaven-I have not been in my church for 3 years, but I pray every day and read the Bible and talk to God like a friend. You're a Texan who are supposed to be rough and tough-lets see if you have the guts to one time talk sincerely to God-but that is your choice as you say.. But God loves you and have a Merry Christmas. JB
