Next Hydrogen Partners with University for Advanced Ammonia Tech
Next Hydrogen Teams Up with University for Ammonia Production Research
Next Hydrogen Solutions Inc. (the “Company” or “Next Hydrogen”) (TSXV:NXH, OTC:NXHSF), a leading designer and manufacturer of electrolyzers, is thrilled to share that it has secured a contract with the University of Minnesota (UMN) to provide its cutting-edge electrolysis technology. This installation will take place at the UMN West Central Research and Outreach Center (WCROC).
The WCROC initiative is backed by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Advanced Research Project Agency as well as collaborators such as RTI International. It aims to showcase technologies that will facilitate the production of ammonia derived from renewable energy, targeting both emerging energy markets and established agricultural sectors.
Next Hydrogen will deliver its third-generation Alkaline Water Electrolyzers which boast enhanced energy efficiency, increased current density, and improved operating pressure. These electrolyzers are designed to adeptly utilize renewable energy sources like wind and solar, providing critical load-following capabilities essential for hydrogen production. The system is expected to be fully operational by 2025.
The project consortium includes prominent organizations such as Nutrien, GE, Nel Hydrogen, Xcel Energy, Great River Energy, Otter Tail Power Company, Runestone Electric Association, Chemtronergy, Texas Tech University, Pacifica, the Agricultural Utilization Research Institute, and Shell.
Raveel Afzaal, President and CEO of Next Hydrogen, expressed, “We are greatly honored to contribute to this groundbreaking project. Collaborating with our esteemed partners, Casale and GE, alongside forging new partnerships, reflects our commitment to innovation. Our technology represents a cost-effective alternative for producing hydrogen from renewable resources.”
