Markel Expands International Casualty Team with New Leaders
Markel, the insurance operations within Markel Group Inc. (NYSE: MKL), has announced significant developments in its International Casualty division through three new strategic appointments. These additions are part of Markel's commitment to diversify its International Casualty portfolio and enhance its Wholesale Claims service, benefiting broker partners.
Key Appointments in the International Casualty Division
The newly appointed executives include Lauren Percival, who takes on the role of Executive Underwriter for General Liability. Her focus will be on growing Markel's General Liability portfolio while collaborating closely with Head of General Liability, James Murray, who joined earlier this year. Percival's duties also include identifying growth opportunities and ensuring exceptional service levels for brokers and policyholders alike.
Lauren Percival’s Expertise
With 18 years of experience in London Market underwriting, Percival brings significant expertise to her role. She previously held senior positions at notable firms such as Arch Insurance International and Chaucer Plc. Furthermore, her extensive experience at QBE Insurance Ltd enabled her to cultivate a strong client network across various regions including the Middle East, Asia, and the Caribbean.
Supporting Environmental Liability Initiatives
Alongside Percival, Olivia Hogan has been appointed as Senior Underwriter. In this role, Hogan will support Director Graeme Ivory in developing Markel's Environmental Liability offerings. She will oversee a diverse portfolio while ensuring sustainable, profitable growth and strengthening broker relationships.
Olivia Hogan’s Background
Hogan's seasoned career spans 12 years in the London Market with a specialization in strategic underwriting. Before her appointment at Markel, she worked at AIG as the UK Environmental Line of Business Owner, successfully managing a profitable environmental insurance portfolio.
Leadership in Claims Management
Lastly, Ed Norman has been appointed as International Casualty Claims Manager. He will lead the claims function specific to the International Casualty division, ensuring that both brokers and insureds receive exemplary service. His role involves managing complex claims across Markel's International Casualty product lines, which include General Liability, Environmental Liability, and Life Sciences.
Ed Norman's Extensive Experience
Norman arrives with a wealth of knowledge, having spent over nine years at AXA XL. In his previous role, he successfully managed a team resolving international wholesale underwriting claims. His prior experience also includes managing casualty claims globally at MSIG Holdings.
Strengthening Markel's International Casualty Division
All new appointees will report to their respective managers: Percival to Murray, Hogan to Ivory, and Norman to Thomas Upton, Head of Claims, Marine and Energy. Markel’s leadership is enthusiastic about the potential of this new team, aiming to further enhance their service offerings.
Graeme Ivory expressed confidence in the new hires, stating that their unique skill sets will significantly bolster the existing team and aid in diversifying their portfolio further while enhancing service quality.
