Well said Bull and I agree.  I don't know what the key is but it is a difficult one. Maybe just conclude the status as "work is ongoing"  or "work in progress" instead of hard dates.  If hard dates are given then IMO they need to be accurate or out so far that they can't help but remain accurate.
