IPTV Gains Ground Worldwide

An increasing number of consumers in the U.S. and around the world are choosing IPTV – creating a competitive environment and resulting in a win-win situation for consumers. A recent study released by TeleGeography reports the following key statistics related to global IPTV growth:
- IPTV subscriptions jumped from 7 million in 2006 to more than 45 million worldwide at the end of 2010.
- More than 40 telecom providers launched IPTV in 2010 – bringing the total number of IPTV services to more than 200.
- IPTV subscribers make up 10 percent of the telecom services provider market.
- The number of fixed broadband Internet subscribers grew by 13% in 2010, climbing to more than 530 million worldwide
