Rafale jet deliveries to India seen by 2016


France expects to make its first deliveries of Rafale warplanes to India by 2016 or 2017, French Defence Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian was quoted as saying by financial daily Les Echos. India is negotiating to acquire 126 of the multi-role combat planes. Le Drian is set to go to New Delhi for talks about the contract, the paper said.   Full Article

Socio-economic woes behind Kuwait crackdown


The narrow, cracked streets of Jleeb al-Shuyoukh district, would normally be bustling with Indian and Bangladeshi workers by late morning. But since Kuwaiti police launched a series of raids about two months ago, the streets are almost empty. The oil-rich country relies heavily on foreign workers, making up 69 percent of its population. The workers come mainly from India, Bangladesh and Pakistan.  Story
