The best way to look at it is “allowed by insurers” would be current standard of care however a trial drug is covered by the sponsor (Cytodyn) along with whatever labs etc have been contracted by trial design and trial site agreement. Usually it will come down to what is over and above standard of care that would otherwise be done under usual treatment monitoring. An example might be the test for CTC’s.
