With baking soda in one small study it showed a rise in M2 (anti-inflammatory) macrophages but another study showed a rise in the JAK/STAT pathway (inflammatory). A larger study would be needed to convince me. If baking soda does cause a shift to an M2 macrophage state you definitely do not want to use it for cancer. It would actually increase the risk in cancer by elevating Tregs, PD-L1 and other tumor protectant factors.

Hydrogen peroxide is considered a ROS (reactive oxygen species) which is highly inflammatory. Definitely not suitable to decrease an inflammatory state.


What I definitely would not recommend is mixing the two together and ingesting it. When combined, baking soda and hydrogen peroxide create lye. Lye is alkaline which in sufficient strength can cause caustic burns. The mix of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide may be less alkaline but repeated use would be an irritant to the esophagus, stomach and intestines.
