The use of MRI is Not only used to show the state of the disease and the progression of the disease, but also probably used to correlate changes in biomarkers. I believe the goal should be to get away from biopsies,” fibroscans”, “fibrosures”, mri’s And rely on biomarkers (and some other things hopefully less expensive ) to explain the efficacy of the treatment.
But this is a relatively new (to payers) disease state given that there is almost nothing proven to treat it, and so the studies are going to have to have multiple angles to measure fat deposits, fibrosis, etc. Over time, there will be cheaper methods to measure the effectiveness of drugs in the MASH space
