chazdazzle: The judges would be interpreting statutes passed by Congress using canons of construction established over decades of caselaw. I don't recall reading statutes loaded with science jargon, but maybe I missed them. On the other hand, when I needed to interpret a federal statute loaded with legalese, my first call for help was always to a scientist.
