I was on statins for around 20 years and developed neuropathy in the past two. My provider at the VA had no clue how to diagnose the problem since I am not diabetic, so I did my own research and found numerous medical papers regarding inflammatory effects of statins. I quit them in early December and the neuropathy is slowly disappearing, along with some other effects resulting from inflammation. The flip side is my lipid panel has gotten hammered.
