great post - i couldn't agree more. i really hope it's a great call, although my expectations are tempered.
but your point about accountability is spot on. when people throw around these conspiracy theories about the FDA and BP being out to get us (and that's why we're stuck in the mud) it takes some of the focus off of management, who are getting paid to make progress and deal with the FDA and BP.
For what it's worth, i'm invested in another company in the biotech space that just got FDA approval. like CytoDyn, they are small, unknown, and will disrupt many entrenched players in a multi-multi billion market. so how did they possibly get through the secretive back room strategies and the over-arching conspiracy of keeping new products from making it to market? because that's all a bunch of BS. the answer is that they have a focused CEO who simply did the blocking and tackling to get through the FDA process - even though there were many challenges along the way, and the FDA bungled several things (because they are an inefficient govt agency). but watching the way this company handled things, vs. what's happened at CytoDyn has clarified everything in my mind - it's not the FDA, and it's not BP - it's in our hands.
that's why we need an effective new leader asap - and we need him/her to lay things out for us and take accountability for achieving results - results for shareholders. yes, i want to save lives and help people - but i'd also like a realistic assessment of when i may actually recoup some of my hard-earned money that has been lost over the past 7 years in this investment.
