Correct, Seafarer doesn't need a manifest to know if there is treasure on a site now.

This may come as a shock to you, but the company would rather confirm what they are seeing is actually treasure via laying hands on it before showing to the public what their scans look like.
Also, how would they do that? Delete location markers on the data and scans? And doing this before confirmation? Do you not see problems with either way?
