Re: Buddyboy20 #130765
Here’s what I wrote Harpitdown about that drug/article just this morning.
“ I just read the cnn article about it. Seems as if it binds directly to amyloid receptors, which is more direct/narrow than LL, which blocks the faucet instead of one of the drain holes. But for Alzheimer’s, which is why the news hit, amyloid buildup is the current prevailing theory about why Alzheimer’s occurs. So lower that and improve patients. But interestingly, they have 18% brain bleeds and those seemed to be worse or more often in patients with a particular gene that is know (or currently implicated) in patients at risk for severe disease. So it may be more limited to early use, though it takes 18 months to show a separation from placebo. In serious patients the risk of brain bleeds and swelling goes up for like, a 27% improvement in decline in cognition.”
It was just a quick breeze through of the article. I haven’t looked further into it. I’m sure ohm and others could or will. But it appears on first glance that it’ll fall into the ol’ “LL does it too, and more, and more safely” bucket of misfit mabs.
