While we continue our wait to see if we are sitting on confederate notes or gold-backed shares, I wouldn’t mind knowing when Tanya Urbach added Emma Walmsley, CEO of GSK to her list of influencers on LinkedIn. There is a game a foot; Cyrus was written up in Science Mag as being a corporate game theory strategist. We don’t have the same crystal ball as he/they do but I am confident they are not playing tiddlywinks back at the shop. Cyrus checked a lot of boxes for the board, he did his own due diligence and deep dive through the lens of someone versed in Game Theory and strategic thinking bubbled up in the interview process. I am not a gamer but heard a PHD game theorist speak once and a hard trait in gaming theory involves collaboration to solve problems. Gamers are magnetically attracted to the most outlandish challenges…the bigger the better…and know from experience they don’t get solved without collaboration. The deepest satisfaction doesn’t come from the personal win but the impossible challenge conquered by partnership and teamwork.
I hope for many things at the conference call next week but am keen to hear hints of the game afoot and who the collaborators might be. In a sense we are part of the team; victory requires Capital and we stand in that gap so we will enjoy the win together when it comes.
