I have both Schwab and eTrade accounts (I never use Schwab). If I want to transfer funds from a bank account to my margin account in eTrade, I just do the transfer from within eT and pull the funds from the bank which may take 3 days to complete. However, the good thing with eTrade is that it gives me immediate credit for the funds that I can use for trading immediately after initiating the transfer. I just can't transfer cash out of eTrade account (that's equal to the amount of the transfer) until after it clears from the bank.
