That’s an ethically slippery slope. I’m frustrated so many are unvaccinated, whether due misplaced fear of a novel vaccine, confusion, politics, laziness or impediments to access.
Patients who are diabetic and obese fair worse with covid. I would not deny them care, but the path of judging who is deserving could lead there.
Irrespective of our political beliefs, we all need to recognize that Covid is a serious and continued threat and that current vaccines and treatments, while imperfect, save lives.
Reminding the hesitant that their loved ones may die from insufficient resources as covid overwhelms healthcare systems is another path to wider vaccination and attenuation of COVID’s terrible impact.
