ha! i think you may be right - that was in the less well known sequel. i think the storyline was that Cratchitt bought one share of CYDY every time he bought a piece of coal. he also put a share into Tiny Tim's UTMA account each year.

Tiny Tim changed his name and ultimately became someone we now know as Richard Branson.
