You make a lot of assumptions. Nobody said anything about the world. It's been done on a regional basis, and it's worked, several times. Because people followed the protocols. They go about their lives largely as normal right now.

Most people aren't capable of that kind of rationality. They are directly responsible for their own fate. To assume that's everyone's fate is flawed.
