Just north of Minneapolis the Mississippi river is not all that big, I used to paddle up and down that area in a canoe by my self. One area was rather narrow and shallow and rocky and there was only one passage that was deep for a boat or canoe. The rest of the area I had to avoid looked like what your video was showing. When the river was high in the spring no way could i paddle through it. Later in summer and fall I usually could.
