I know a bit about what's going on in Manaus. A few years ago I was a soloist at a concert at the famous Opera house in Manaus, Theatro Amazonas.
I have been in touch with musicians since; the Concert Master of the Orchestra died from Covid, my guess she was in her 40's, so really tragic. As we speak people have been dying in the streets or at home or in front of the hospital. The variant seems to be more lethal and more contagious.
From my musician friends, it is a mess.
