If an exec at my company said he was going to leave in x weeks or whatever, especially if it wasn't a planned retirement, for example, we would show him the door immediately. The likelihood of him resurfacing at a potential competitor (non-competes carry limited weight anymore) would be high and it is best to cut the inside info sharing.
