$3.10 to $2.27....Most likely shorts borrowing and simultaneously sell stock.
At $2.27 shorts most likely net buyers....cover/closing their short position....buying and causing the price to stabilize and perhaps rise.
They made their money and are now booking it.
You know....sell high and buy low.
