Got off on a bit of a tangent. The power of the trial has to do with the the amount of data points. The more deaths, the more data points (apologies for the insensitivity).
If the number of deaths in the trial is reduced, the power is reduced. When we heard 87 deaths, that seemed to insure the power of the trial. But if some of those deaths were outside the trial parameters, it would reduce the power.
With that said, its important to remember that there are no good therapuetic options to date, so even clinical significance will likely lead to EUA
