Thank you. Took me a while to locate this trial. Based on the information in clinicaltrials.gov, and the subsets discussed in this article, it appears that this trial encompassed all hospitalized patients. I have not yet located the proportions of moderate/severe/critical, but it stands to reason that the patients in this trial include some proportion that is moderate.
That is likely the reason for the overall placebo mortality of 25.7%.
Mechanical ventilation 41.4%
Supplemental oxygen 26.2%
No oxygen 14.0%
At the end of the day, the mix of severe/critical is what will affect BOTH the mortality rate inside of 28 days and the possibility that 42 data would be needed.
Unfortunately this trial doesn't give us a good comparison due to the moderate patients.
