I think the FDA is going to be trying very hard to regain credibility after all the missteps, and any therapeutic they can approve will be something they can say that they ushered through quickly.

Note that today they announced that the "boosters" or altered vaccines from companies that already had approved vaccines, would be approved quickly with small and short clinical trials. They are trying to show that they are helping not hindering (when we know that they were in fact hindering the approval process for therapeutic drugs).
