The aggregate numbers I believe can be helpful to capture the bigger picture, as patients progress in severity with variable duration of hospitalization.
The number of hospitalized could be under-reported, but hospitals are compensated for length of hospitalization as well as treatments rendered, so there is an incentive to report these numbers correctly.
