This is well beyond my depth, but I have been considering what you are saying with this post and the posts last night.
Regarding heterozygous folks, if it stands to reason they have 50% less CCR5, I think it would be reasonable to think that those folks may progress to severe at a much lower rate.
I would propose that less CCR5 = less response to CCL5 = less cytokine storm.
