NIH announces restructured HIV clinical trials networks:

This had been posted here few days ago (thank you !!). I tend to disagree with those that don't believe this is worth pursuing:
1) It can potentially fund a trial (i.e. monotherapy 700mg in USA, or HIV cure)
2) It will give us "exposure "with the NIH and the HIV community at large. A successful trial with NIH "support" will surely weight more on FDA for their assessment process as they have given us the short stick every time.
3) As far as I know there will not be a detriment in the potential revenue from the drug. This is the important point, we get the money because we want to do "critical research" in finding the end to the HIV pandemic.
So, if we can get part of the $375 million (one year) to fund our research I don't think this is bad. Provided we remain independent as far as commercialization goes.
And that is the big IF but, nevertheless, I think talking to NIH, and receiving resources will no harm us.
