After a goodnights rest and a 5 mile run this morning, I’ve come to the conclusion that the President is unlikely to announce leronlimab as the breakthrough therapeutic. The current White House has yet to support a drug proven through FDA clinical trials (I don’t recall the President mentioning much about Remdesevir trials) and instead has pushed drugs that are popular amongst the conservative base, some with decent EIND and anecdotal data, but not FDA approved. I can understand the President’s comment this week regarding drawn out FDA processes, but I believe those processes are needed to get legitimate, safe, and efficacious drugs to the market. The real problem is the power of BPs and their lobbyists, who push drugs that may not be the best (I.e. remdesevir). The announcement, as you pointed out, is taking place the night before the Republican National Convention kicks off, which tells me this may not be a breakthrough because a breakthrough wouldn’t coincidentally happen today.

The hope I have for leronlimab as the drug to be announced tonight is based on facts. Leronlimab has proven itself in an FDA, double blind, placebo controlled trial, is safe, and based on EIND results, should prevent hospitalizations and reduce deaths.
