It is going to take time. Serious journalists are concerned with being accurate (to protect the publication, their personal reputations, and the institution itself), and will need time to first pick up on the story and then take the time to do the background research. Remember, Cytodyn is a small company with a new drug in a sea of other drug companies whose investors are making similar claims. Very few journalists have the scientific background to take on this story, and those that do may not have the time necessary to do the background research. Think about how much time each of us have invested in doing due diligence.
Further, media organizations take days, if not weeks to identify and report on a story. What is published today has been in the works for a few days at least if not a few weeks. It will take them time to assign the story, get in touch with sources, confirm with secondary sources, write the story, go through editing, then production (print, video, etc).
Also, it is very common for a new scientific information to be viewed with skepticism. Science generally waits for new findings to be verified with independent experiments - that is the nature of the process and how people are trained in the profession.
We do have placebo controlled, blinded trial results - but those findings are hours old, it’s just going to take a few days at least.
